Church conversions in New York City always seem to be an architectural roll of the dice, but YIMBY noticed this fairly attractive rendering on the fence at 81 Ten Eyck Street in East Williamsburg, where the former St Mary’s Catholic Church is being transformed into apartments.
The blocks around McCarren Park are booming with development, and now YIMBY has a construction rendering for one of those projects—at 137 Bayard Street, between Manhattan and Graham Avenues in Greenpoint.
Per The Real Deal, the Salvation Army has sold the development site spanning 176-180 Bedford Avenue, in northern Williamsburg, to Thor Equities for $36.1 million, which equates to $2,500 per square-foot. The site boasts 14,400 square feet of building potential, and undisclosed construction plans will almost surely include a large retail component.
