The upcoming 343,788-square-foot, mixed-use building will rise 26 stories and bring 323 rental units to the neighborhood. The property sits at the corner of Dean Street and Sixth Avenue and is directly to the east of Barclays Center. Marvel Architects is the designer and the Brodsky Organization is the developer. An updated rendering was also posted on the construction fence. The project is alternately addressed 495 Dean Street and 664 Pacific Street.
Extensive rezoning proposals from New York City’s Department of City Planning could spur a dramatic uptick in development along the shores of Gowanus, Brooklyn. Known among city agencies as the “Gowanus Neighborhood Plan,” the initiative is designed to facilitate the construction of residential and commercial properties, to encourage population increase, and to help create new job opportunities for local residents.

The Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) has announced plans to build a 167-unit modular housing block in East New York, Brooklyn. From Think! Architecture and Design, the building includes a mix of studios, one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom units. In addition to a large community area, there will also be a new medical clinic and supportive services for homeless New Yorkers.
Permits have been filed for a 29-story mixed-use building at 221 West Street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Located between Freeman Street and Eagle Street, the corner lot is eight city blocks north of the Greenpoint Avenue subway station, serviced by the G train. Brookfield Properties is listed as the owner behind the applications, and is responsible for several other mixed-use properties in Greenpoint Landing.
