Construction Rises on Two-Building Complex at 218 Front Street in Vinegar Hill, Brooklyn

Construction is rising on 218 Front Street, a seven-story two-building residential complex in Vinegar Hill, Brooklyn. Designed by S. Wieder Architect and developed and built by Chess Builders, the project will yield 218 rental apartments with 66 affordable housing units, as well as 350 square feet of commercial space and 180 square feet of community space. The site is bound by Front Street to the north and York Street to the south, and was formerly occupied by a one-story industrial warehouse and an open-air lumber yard.

Herzog & de Meuron Transform Infamous ‘Gowanus Batcave’ Into Powerhouse Arts Facility in Brooklyn

After a decade of remediation and construction, a derelict industrial building along the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn has been transformed into a state-of-the-art fabrication facility and makerspace for ceramic, print, and public art, as well as space for events and education. Known as Powerhouse Arts, the property is located at 322 3rd Avenue and was transformed by Pritzker Prize-winning design studio Herzog & de Meuron, alongside New York City’s PBDW Architects.

Construction is quickly taking shape on 1 Park Point, a 13-story residential building in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn. Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by JEMB Realty, the 145-foot-tall structure will span 395,726 square feet and yield 375 rental units with an average scope of 798 square feet, as well as 5,388  square feet of retail space, 18,850  square feet for community space, a cellar level, and 106 enclosed parking spaces. Pavarini McGovern is the general contractor for the property, which was formerly addressed as  11 Ocean Parkway, is located on Machate Circle at the southwestern corner of Prospect Park, and bound by Ocean Parkway, Coney Island Avenue, and Caton Place.
