Construction is continuing to rise on 9 DeKalb Avenue, a 93-story residential skyscraper in Downtown Brooklyn, as the structure nears the 984-foot-tall threshold that will make it the first supertall in the outer boroughs. Designed by SHoP Architects and developed by JDS, the 1,066-foot-tall project will yield 450 rental apartments and 150 condominiums above a retail podium bound by Flatbush Avenue Extension to the northeast, Fleet Street to the northwest, the landmark Dime Savings Bank of Brooklyn to the southwest, and DeKalb Avenue to the south.
Construction is nearing the halfway mark on 141 Willoughby Street, a 24-story commercial building in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Fogarty Finger with SLCE as the executive architect and developed by Savanna Real Estate, which secured $264 million in construction financing earlier this year, the 400,000-square-foot structure will yield a mix of office and retail space on a trapezoidal plot bound by Willoughby Street to the south, Gold Street to the west, and Flatbush Avenue Extension to the east. Gilbane Building Company and Savcon are the general contractors for the project.
Exterior work is progressing on Olympia, a 26-story residential building at 30 Front Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn. Designed by Hill West Architects and developed by Fortis Property Group with Workstead leading the interior design, the 401-foot-tall structure will yield 76 condominiums marketed by Fredrik Eklund and John Gomes of the Eklund Gomes Team at Douglas Elliman and Karen Heyman at Sotheby’s. Urban Atelier Group is managing construction, Manhattan Concrete created the reinforced concrete superstructure, and King Contacting Group is in charge of the CMU work, exterior insulation finish systems, and roofing for the project, which is bound by Front Street to the north, Washington Street to the east, and York Street to the south.
Sales launched this week for a boutique condominium development in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Addressed as 394 Kosciuszko Street, the new five-story building is developed by Pros Development and designed by Allen Shinfeld. The In-House Group is handling sales and marketing for the five units with pricing starting at $949,500.
The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) has completed its latest affordable homeownership program in Brooklyn. Known as the Blake Hendrix project, the initiative introduces 30 new residential properties scattered across 13 different sites in East New York.
