First Glimpses of Summit One Vanderbilt, Highest Observatory in Manhattan’s Midtown East

Yesterday SL Green Realty Corp. unveiled their plans for Summit One Vanderbilt, the new observatory space located in the crown of One Vanderbilt, a 1,401-foot-tall commercial supertall in Midtown East. Opening on October 21st, the 65,000-square-foot experience center will top the 77-story skyscraper designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and deliver views of all five boroughs. One Vanderbilt encompasses an entire block immediately to the west of Grand Central Terminal with Summit One Vanderbilt directly connected directly to the massive transit hub. Interiors of Summit One Vanderbilt are designed by Snøhetta with art installations by Kenzo Digital.

Located between Second and Third Avenues, the 40-story structure is designed by Ismael Leyva Architects and Elk Investors is listed as the developer, though YIMBY last reported that ownership may have fully transferred to Mossanen Group under the East 54th Street Properties LLC.

One Grove Redesigned Development Awaits Approval from Jersey City’s Planning Board

The redesigned One Grove mixed-use proposal for 221 Grove Street in Jersey City is waiting for final approval. The site previously housed a Jersey City Boys and Girls Club in Downtown Jersey City and if approved, it could soon yield almost 200 residential units, ground-floor retail, and a garage. Strategic Capital is developing the 13-story building under One Grove Property LLC and Marchetto Higgins Stieve and Archilier Architecture are responsible for the design.
