Permits Filed for Religious Community Facility at 51 Park Place, Tribeca

With verticality possibly imminent at 45 Park Place, on the edge of the Financial District and Tribeca, Sharif El-Gamal of Soho Properties has now filed applications for a neighboring community facility, at 51 Park Place. Scott Newman of Cooper Robertson is listed as the architect, and the plans seem to be an updated version of the site’s former mosque, which was demolished back in 2011 to make way for the new residential tower.

Renderings Released and Ground Broken for 2415 Church Avenue, Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn

The Kalikow Group has broken ground on their seven-story residential building at 2415 Church Avenue, for which YIMBY has the first renderings. Kalikow Group, WRS Associates, and the Ishay Group are joint owners of the property, and permits were filed for the project in early 2015.

First Filings Submitted for Manhattan West’s Second Office Tower Show Height Decrease, Hudson Yards

Yesterday, YIMBY reported on the latest progress at Brookfield’s Manhattan West, in Midtown West/Hudson Yards. Today, the first filings have appeared for the site’s second office tower, which will sit on the northwest corner of 31st Street and Ninth Avenue, and has evidently seen a moderate height chop.

Journal Squared’s Next 72-Story Tower Breaks Ground in Journal Square, Jersey City

After a few years of waiting, construction has finally begun on the second phase of Journal Squared, in Jersey City’s Journal Square neighborhood. Back in August, YIMBY interviewed Mayor Fulop who indicated progress on the site would be imminent, and now the latest photos from apophenic show that excavation has officially commenced on the tower. Designed by HWKN/Hollwich Kushner and Handel Architects, it will stand 72 floors and 759 feet to its rooftop.

ODA-Designed 190 South 1st Street Nears Completion, Williamsburg

The last time we reported on 190 South 1st Street, YIMBY had the opportunity to go on a tour of the construction site. Now, we have images of the nearly-completed 13-story building, and the final look is strikingly close to what’s depicted in the renderings. The brutalist concrete facade is well balanced from the tower portion, all the way down to the community facility space along Driggs Avenue.

Permits Filed for 962 Bushwick Avenue, Bushwick, Brooklyn

Permits have been filed for a new seven-story condominium building at 962 Bushwick Avenue, in Bushwick, Brooklyn. The project would replace a three-story residential structure. The site is four blocks away from the Gates Avenue subway station on Broadway, serviced by the J, M, and Z trains. Plenty of restaurants and shops dominate the vicinity, including a grocery store.

Permits have been filed for a new three-story building at 19-14 21st Road, in Ditmars-Steinway, Queens. The site is two blocks away from Astoria Park, along the East River. Though the neighborhood is largely residential, this particular location is just a couple blocks away from several stores, a market, and the P.S. 122 Mamie Fay. AKI Development is responsible for the project.

Manhattan West’s First Supertall Nears Halfway Point, Gets First Glass, Hudson Yards

The Upper West Side doesn’t often see major new residential developments, especially of the affordable variety, which is why HPD’s plans for 145 West 108th Street, on behalf of the West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing, are somewhat surprising. Last April, YIMBY reported on filings for new apartments at 211 West 29^th Street, Chelsea. Now Curbed has a rendering of the design by ZH Architects, and updates about the structure, which is being developed by Alex Bernstein. The building is set to be Manhattan’s second-tallest to satisfy passive house standards, which require minimal energy output to maintain comfortable internal temperatures.
