On Thursday, August 6, the famous Top of the Rock observation deck reopened to the public after temporarily closing in March 2020. Located atop 30 Rockefeller Plaza in Midtown the historic observatory offers 360-degree views of New York City, including some of the best vistas of the Empire State Building and the rising skyline of Billionaires’ Row.
Permits have been filed for a four-story residential building at 20-18 Steinway Street in Astoria, Queens. Located between 20th Avenue and 20th Road, the interior lot is also addressed as 20-08 Steinway Street. The closest transit is the Ditmars Boulevard subway station, serviced by the N and W trains. Fuhao Yang under the 2008 Steinway LLC Davaros under the Rio Davaroso Property LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
Demolition preparations are underway at 45-03 23rd Street in Hunters Point, Queens, the site of a 544-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper. Designed by Fogarty Finger and developed by Charney Companies and Tavros Capital under the Court Square 45th Avenue LLC, the 50-story tower will contain condominiums as well as commercial and community space.
FXCollaborative has updated design proposals for a new residential tower and partial expansion of the historic Brooklyn Music School in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Located at 130 Saint Felix Street, the most notable changes in the architect’s proposals include a new structural height of 265 feet, down from 285 feet, and a series of setback terrace levels toward the top of the building. The proposal was approved at a Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) meeting on August 4th.
Full demolition permits have been filed for 335 West 39th Street in Midtown West, Manhattan. According to the filing, the site is owned by Jonah Kriger under the 335 West 39th Street Realty Company and currently houses a four-story commercial building with three units. It appears Penn Plaza Consultants is also involved in the partnership. The 43-foot-tall structure was built in 1910.
