Permits Filed for 164 Canal Street West, Mott Haven, The Bronx

A desolate lot in The Bronx’s Mott Haven neighborhood is about to sprout a seven story mixed-use structure. Applications filed with the DOB show the new building will have 30,796 square feet of total construction area, within which, there will be 7,493 square feet of space for a community facility in the form of an ambulatory diagnostic center on floors two and three. There will also be 18,136 square feet of commercial space, to be divided between 73 hotel rooms, which will average under 250 square feet apiece. Michael Kang Architect, PC, is designing, and Manny Chadha of Vertu Hospitality LLC is the developer.

Demolition Complete for Supertall 262 Fifth Avenue, Midtown South

As construction begins to make headway on new residential towers at 15 East 30th Street and 277 Fifth Avenue, just to the south, an actual supertall is in the works at 262 Fifth Avenue. Applications for the site were filed back in September of 2016, before it got a slight height boost to 1,001 feet. Now, demolition is complete on the site’s old occupant.

Rezoning Moves Forward for Rabsky Group’s Pfizer Redevelopment, South Williamsburg

Multi-block redevelopments are becoming commonplace in the formerly industrial areas that border the burgeoning residential blocks of northwest Brooklyn, and now another major site has been added to the list. Yesterday, City Planning approved the Pfizer redevelopment in South Williamsburg, which will see the derelict 4.2-acre site completely revitalized.

Carmel Partners’ 118 Fulton Street Tops Out At 66 Floors and 762 Feet, Financial District

118 Fulton Street has been making swift progress over the past few months, and now, the 752-foot-tall tower has officially topped-out. Foundation work was still ongoing just over one year ago, with the 66-story building’s rise since then clocking in at an impressive pace of over one floor per week. SLCE Architects is behind the design for the project, which is being developed by Carmel Partners.

200 East 21st Street Tops Out, Gramercy

Back in March of 2016, YIMBY reported on new building applications for an assemblage at 200 East 21st Street, on the corner of Third Avenue, in Gramercy. Now, the new project, designed by BKSK Architects, has topped out 21 floors and 210 feet above the streets below. Alfa Development is behind the building, which will have 67 condominiums, and opening day is about a year out.

770 East 214th Street Revealed, Williamsbridge, The Bronx

New developments both big and small are rising across The Bronx, and today, we have a reveal for a four-story building coming to 770 East 214th Street, in the borough’s Williamsbridge neighborhood. YIMBY first reported on the site back in June of 2014, when applications were initially filed with the DOB. The structure will total 8,030 square feet, and will be divided between ten rental apartments. UA Builders Group is the site’s developer, Badaly Architects PLLC is the architect of record, and completion is likely within the next year.

Design Concept Revealed for Another Central Park Tower, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir

But a new concept proposed by DFA would provide Central Park with an actual tower of its own, though its existence would be limited to a temporary duration.

Another 52-Story Tower Set to Rise in Jersey City at 25 Columbus Drive

Jersey City’s boom only seems to be getting more impressive as the year goes on, and now another tower is set to rise on the city’s skyline, at 25 Columbus Drive. The 52-story building will be designed by Handel Architects and developed by L+M Development Partners, and will have 750 rental apartments, a 35,000 square-foot school, four storefronts covering 16,485 square feet of retail space, and a public plaza, according to Jersey Digs. No completion date has been announced yet.
