Construction has topped out on 317-319 West 35th Street, a 25-story hotel building in Midtown’s Garment District. Designed by Peter Poon Architects and developed by Wei Hong Hu under the H Hotel LLC, the 249-foot-tall structure will yield 59,250 square feet with 166 hotel rooms, 3,399 square feet of commercial space, and three below-grade levels. Crosscity Construction Corporation is the general contractor for the property, which is located between Eighth and Ninth Avenues.

Excavation at 740 Eighth Avenue Progresses Further Below Street Level in Midtown, Manhattan 

Excavation is progressing at 740 Eighth Avenue, the site of a 52-story supertall hotel and observation tower in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by ODA with SLCE Architects as the architect of record and developed by Extell, the 1,067-foot-tall skyscraper will yield 776,000 square feet with 825 hotel rooms in its lower half and a public observatory with a drop ride attraction above. The unconventionally-shaped structure will also contain retail space, two upper restaurant floors, and a pool deck for guests. Lendlease is the general contractor, WSP is the structural engineer, and Ancora Engineering is handling excavation and foundations for the property, which is located on an expansive lot along Eighth Avenue between West 45th and 46th Streets on the border of Times Square and Hell’s Kitchen.

Façade installation is continuing to progress on One High Line, a twisting two-tower residential development at 500 West 18th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and developed by Witkoff Group and Access Industries, the 36- and 26-story structures will yield 900,000 square feet with 236 condominium units, a hotel component, ground-floor retail space, and a public plaza. Suffolk Construction is the general contractor, Enzo Enea is the landscape architect, and Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group is handling sales and marketing for the property, which is alternately addressed as 76 Eleventh Avenue and stands adjacent to the High Line on a trapezoidal plot bound by West 18th Street to the north, West 17th Street to the south, Tenth Avenue to the east, and West Street to the west.
