Progress on the NoMad Ritz Carlton Hotel is soon going to reach its pinnacle. Located at 1185 Broadway at the northern intersection of West 28th Street and Broadway, the superstructure will culminate 580 feet above Midtown, yielding 150,000 square feet and 250 guest rooms. The 40-story skyscraper is designed by Rafael Vinoly and developed by Marriott, Ritz Carlton Hotels, and Flag Luxury Properties. The interiors are being designed by Yabu Pushelberg.
Preliminary renderings from Stonehill Taylor Architects offer a first look at a new hotel property in Manhattan’s Financial District. The development is located at 110-112 Liberty Street, just one block east of the World Trade Center Complex.
Construction is now several floors above street level at 50 Trinity Place, a forthcoming Aloft Hotel in the Financial District. The project is designed by Peter Poon Architects and is being developed by FIT Investment Corporation, which purchased the property for $15 million eight years ago. Located at the intersection of Trinity Place and Rector Street, the site is located just to the north of 77 Greenwich Street.
Earlier this year, the Landmarks Preservation Commission reviewed proposals from BKSK Architects to renovate and convert the historic Margaret Louisa Home in Union Square into a hotel. The design team returned to the LPC with updated proposals following feedback and criticism of the original designs. Located at 16 East 16th Street, the six-story Margaret Louisa Home was completed in 1891 and included 78 bedrooms, parlor and reception rooms, private and public dining spaces, and laundry facilities for over 100 women who lived in the building.
Work is moving along on 120 Water Street, a topped-out, 28-story project from Gene Kaufman Architects and Atlas Hospitality in the Financial District. The 52,000-square-foot building will contain a Hotel Indigo with 128 rooms managed by Fortuna Realty Group.
