A 15-story, 338-key hotel is quietly rising above street level at 148-18 Archer Avenue, in downtown Jamaica, and a rendering of the project has been spotted on the construction fence. The latest building permits indicate the project will eventually encompass 202,314 square feet and rise 170 feet above street level to its roof. It will be home to a 224-key Courtyard Inn on the second through 10th floors and a 114-key Fairfield Inn and Suites on the 11th through 15th floors. Guest amenities will be located on the ground and cellar levels. An anonymous Flushing-based LLC is the developer and Raymond Chan’s Flushing-based firm is behind the architecture. Completion is slated for early 2019.
A schematic depiction of the hotel planned at 149-03 Archer Avenue, located on the corner of 149th Street in downtown Jamaica, has been posted on the construction fence. Since YIMBY initially reported on applications for the project, it has been scaled down from 18 to eight stories and 283 to 128 rooms. The building permits indicate it will encompass 139,192 square feet and rise 91 feet above street level, not including the bulkhead.
A rendering has been posted at the site of the nine-story, 48-key hotel planned at 145-07 95th Avenue in downtown Jamaica. Since YIMBY reported on the project’s initial filings in June 2015, the Buildings Department has approved the plans, which call for a 23,389-square-foot structure that will rise 84 feet above street level to its roof, not including the bulkhead.
Late last month, YIMBY reported that piling work was underway at the site of HFZ Capital Group’s two-towered, 35- and 25-story, mixed-use project at 76 11th Avenue in southern Chelsea. The developer had been considering whether to construct a hotel or office space within the project’s commercial component; now it has been revealed that a five-star, 137-key Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas is planned. The hotel portion will be located in the 25-story eastern tower and will feature a spa. It will be the Bangkok-based hotel operator’s first location in the United States.
