Extell Files Permits For 1,100-Foot Supertall at 570 Fifth Avenue In Midtown, Manhattan

At number five on our year-end countdown is 570 Fifth Avenue, a mixed-use skyscraper in Midtown. Last week it was revealed that Extell filed permits to develop a ground-up structure with a maximum architectural height of 1,100 feet and 78 floors, making it a potential supertall structure standing on a 43,011-square-foot corner plot bound by Fifth Avenue and West 46th Street. The parcel itself has been sitting cleared and vacant for quite some time, but that will soon change as plans for this latest skyscraper get underway. No architect has been revealed for the project, or what interior functions will be housed inside, though a series of zoning and massing diagrams and ground-floor plans give us an idea about the scale of this mammoth edifice.

New Renderings of FXCollaborative’s Two-Tower Development at 495 Eleventh Avenue Revealed in Midtown West, Manhattan

At number 20 on our year-end countdown is a pair of mixed-use residential skyscrapers at 495 Eleventh Avenue in Midtown West, Manhattan. Designed by FXCollaborative with Gene Kaufman Architects as the architect of record, the 589,842-square-foot project consists of a 680-foot-tall, 57-story edifice paired with a slightly shorter 653-foot-tall, 56-story sibling that will rise along Eleventh Avenue between West 39th and West 40th Streets, next to the Jakob K. Javits Center. NYC Economic Development Corporation is listed as the owner behind the applications that were filed back in late October.

Aloft Hotel Progresses at 450 Eleventh Avenue in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

At number 22 on our year-end countdown is 450 Eleventh Avenue, a topped-out 642-foot-tall Aloft Hotel in Hudson Yards. Designed by DSM Design Group and developed by Marx Development Group, the slender 51-story reinforced concrete skyscraper will yield 379 guest rooms as well as a business center, a ballroom, and a fourth-floor restaurant and bar with an outdoor terrace overlooking the growing neighborhood. Atria Builders LLC is the general contractor for the Midtown, Manhattan property, which is located at the corner of West 37th Street and Eleventh Avenue, directly across from the Jacob K. Javits Center. The total construction cost is expected to be around $368 million.

Topped-Out Moxy Hotel Progresses at 353 Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Construction is progressing on an 11-story Moxy Hotel at 353 Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The topped-out reinforced concrete structure is being built by Leeding Builders Group, LLC, designed by Stonehill & Taylor Architects, and developed by The Lightstone Group and Marriott. The edifice will yield a total of 216 hotel rooms with interiors designed by Basile Studios. 353 Bedford Avenue is located between 4th and 5th Streets and is a short walk to the East River waterfront and the Domino Park esplanade.
