NoMad’s Virgin Hotel Tops Out At 1225 Broadway, Work on Podium Floors and Facade Continues

The future Virgin Hotel at 1225 Broadway has officially topped out above NoMad. The 476-foot tall skyscraper has about 300,000 square feet of newly built space. The interiors will yield a 460-key hotel and 90,000 square feet of retail on the lower podium floors. VOA Associates is the designer of the glass skyscraper while Lam Group is the developer. Sir Richard Branson of Virgin Group will be in charge of managing the hotel when completed.

Permits Filed For 30-Story Hotel at 112 Liberty Street, in The Financial District

Permits have been filed for a new 30-story hotel at 112 Liberty Street, in the Financial District. The site sits directly across from 150 Greenwich Street and the World Trade Center complex by the intersection of Church Street and Liberty Street. It will be designed by Stonehill & Taylor Architects and yield around 92,300 square feet of newly built space. Demolition of the current low-rise buildings will have to begin before excavation and construction on the new skyscraper can begin. The new skyscraper is proposed to be 327 feet tall and will be the tallest building on that parcel of land.

BIG’s Second Twisting Tower For The XI Tops at 76 Eleventh Avenue, in Chelsea

The pair of twisting towers at 76 Eleventh Avenue, designed by Bjarke Ingels Group, are now officially topped out. Located in Chelsea, the shorter 300-foot tall building reached its twentieth floor one week ago. The complex, dubbed “The XI,” sits to the west of the High Line, just north of Chelsea Market and the Urban Theater over Eleventh Avenue. HFZ Capital is the developer of the 908,250-square foot site, while Omnibuild is in charge of constructing the reinforced concrete structures. 76 Eleventh Avenue will be a mix of residential units and a Six Senses Hotel.
