It appears that work is on hold at 21-16 44th Drive, aka 21-18 44th Drive, a mixed-use property in Long Island City, Queens. Construction only reached the sixth floor and still has two more levels to go before topping out. Designed by C3D Architecture and developed by Amsterdam Hospitality, the project is slated to yield a mix of ground-floor retail space, 40 hotel rooms measuring around 250 square feet each, and 29 homes averaging just under 700 square feet apiece. YIMBY last reported on the project in August 2015, when permits were filed for its construction.
Foundation work looks to be complete at 23-20 Jackson Avenue, the site of a nine-story mixed-use hotel in Long Island City, Queens. Designed by KSQ Architects and developed by The Vorea Group, the corner property will yield a grand total of 85,851 square feet, which will be divided into retail, offices, and a 72-room hotel operated by San Francisco-based hotelier Sonder Corp.
The Shubert Organization has partnered with Berg + Moss Architects to design and construct a 49-story hotel adjacent to the historic Cort Theatre at 138 West 48th Street in Midtown, Manhattan. Proposed actions also include rehabilitation of the theatre and the construction of a five-story annex that would contain a portion of the new hotel component and back-of-house theatre spaces.
Permits have been filed for a 23-story hotel at 777 Eighth Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan. Located between 47th Street and 48th Street, the interior lot is two blocks south of the 50th Street subway station, serviced by the A, C, and E trains and one block west of the 49th Street station, serviced by the N, R, and W trains. Also within walking distance is Times Square and the Port Authority transit hub. McSam Hotel Group under the TSGL 8th Avenue LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
Foundation work is nearing completion at 159 Broadway, a 26-story mixed-use residential project in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Designed by Stonehill Taylor and developed by Cornell Realty Management LLC, the 133,340-square-foot project is located across the street from Peter Luger Steakhouse and directly abuts the 145-year-old landmarked Williamsburgh Savings Bank. The superstructure will top out at 277 feet tall and become one of the tallest buildings in the inland section of Williamsburg.
