A new Le Meridien Hotel at 292 Fifth Avenue is expected to reach full completion in October 2020. The 187-key hotel topped out at 21 stories in 2019 and is one of the latest projects developed in collaboration by McSam Hotel Group and Gene Kaufman Architect.
Construction is about to go vertical at 450 Eleventh Avenue, a 487-foot-tall, 531-room hotel from Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide in Hudson Yards. Designed by DSM Design Group and developed by Marx Development Group, the 43-story tower is one of several new high-rise structures sprouting up around the Jacob K. Javits Center.
After a brief pause in construction, work has resumed on the Marriott Residence Inn at 215 Pearl Street in the Financial District. The 38-story building comprises approximately 165,655 feet and was initially designed by Nobutaka Ashihara Architects, with whom Gene Kaufman worked to transition the project.
A new Marriott Residence Inn near John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens will soon be complete following two years of steady construction. Located at 142-30 135th Avenue in South Ozone Park, the hotel is designed by Gene Kaufman Architect and was originally expected to debut this year.
Installation of the warm-colored travertine façade is continuing on The XI, a twisting pair of 36- and 26-story residential structures at 76 Eleventh Avenue in Chelsea. Designed by Danish architect Bjarke Ingels of Bjarke Ingels Group and developed by HFZ Capital Group, the 908,250-square-foot complex stands along the Hudson River waterfront just west of the High Line. The project will yield 236 condominiums and a 137-room Six Senses Hotel Resort Spa, the first location in the United States. Omnibuild is in charge of the construction and Douglas Elliman is handling sales and marketing.
