Excavation Underway For Nine-Story, 175-Key Hoxton Hotel At 97 Wythe Avenue, Williamsburg

Over the summer, YIMBY brought you renderings of the planned nine-story, 175-key Hoxton Hotel at 97 Wythe Avenue, in northern Williamsburg, and now excavation is well underway, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle reports. Sydell Group is developing the 59,910 square-foot hotel, which will feature restaurants on the second floor and the roof. Perkins Eastman is designing the building.


646 Gerard Avenue

Four-Story, 67-Key Hotel Filed At 646 Gerard Avenue, Concourse

Nehalhumar Gandhi, doing business as a New Jersey-based LLC, has filed applications for a four-story, 67-key hotel at 646 Gerard Avenue, in the Concourse, located three blocks north of the 149 Street – Grand Concourse stop on the 2, 4, and 5 trains. The project will measure 18,556 square feet in total, and hotel rooms will average 277 square feet apiece. Guests will have access to traditional hotel amenities on the ground and cellar level, and they will also be conveniently located a few blocks south of Yankee Stadium. Flushing-based Michael Kang is the architect of record. A single-story commercial building was filed for demolition this past October.


86 Trinity Place

Investor Purchases Stake At Planned 14-Story, 156-Key Hotel & Retail Conversion At 86 Trinity Place, FiDi

Clarion Partners has purchased a 70 percent stake in the vacant 14-story, 182,000 square-foot American Stock Exchange Building at 86 Trinity Place, in the Financial District. Clarion payed $105 million to GHC Development, and the developer plans to convert the former office building into commercial-retail and a 156-key hotel. Retail space will be located from the ground floor through the fifth floor, while the hotel will be located on the upper floors. A restaurant will be built on the sixth floor. The building’s floor area will technically be expanded, thanks to expansions on the fourth floor, the addition of a fifth floor, and enlargements towards the top of the building. Developer Begins City Review Process For TWA Flight Center Hotel at JFK Airport

The TWA Flight Center at John F. Kennedy International Airport has been out of commission for 14 years, but if all goes according to plan, it will welcome a new slew of visitors starting in just a few years. MCR Development is planning to redevelop the landmarked 1962 Eero Saarinen building into the TWA Flight Center Hotel. It got approval from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in September, but yesterday announced that it is commencing the city’s Uniform Land Use Review Procedure, or ULURP.

Partial Residential & Hotel Conversion For 22-Story Building At 660 Madison Avenue, Lenox Hill

The Safra family’s JSRE Acquisitions has filed applications to convert part of the 22-story, 475,000 square-foot mixed-use commercial building at 660 Madison Avenue, in Lenox Hill between East 60th and 61st Streets, into residential and hotel units. Beginning on the 10th floor, there will be 54 dwelling units added in total. The hotel portion will be located from floors 10 through 15, although it’s not specified how many of the 54 dwelling units will be part of the hotel. Regardless, the remaining units will be residential and will be located throughout floors 10 through 22. Roof terraces already exist on many of the floors and the top two floors will consists of duplex units.
