YIMBY Checks in on Manuel Glas’ Mixed-Use Tower at 1059 Third Avenue on the Upper East Side

The curtain wall is steadily rising at 1059 Third Avenue, a topped-out 481-foot-tall mixed-use tower on the Upper East Side. Designed by Manuel Glas Architects and developed by Real Estate Inverlad and Third Palm Capital, the reinforced concrete structure rises 30 stories and will yield 127,000 square feet. There will be a total of 38 condominiums spread over 103,900 square feet of residential space, averaging around 2,740 square feet apiece. Our last update was about a year ago and YIMBY recently stopped by to see what has happened since.

GID Development Group Launches Leasing For Waterline Square on the Upper West Side

GID Development Group has officially launched apartment leasing within Waterline Square, a five-acre development that includes a trio of distinct high-rise buildings and lush landscaping throughout. The $2.3 billion development is perched along the Hudson River on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and was designed by a world class team of architects including Rafael Viñoly, Kohn Pedersen Fox, and Richard Meier.

Harlem School of the Arts to Begin $9.5 Million Renovation at 645 St. Nicholas Avenue

This month the Harlem School of the Arts will break ground on a $9.5 million renovation titled “The Renaissance Project.” Under the direction of Imrey Studio, the core of the project includes a replacement of the structure’s brick exterior with a double-height glass façade to both promote the flow of natural light into the building and amplify the school’s interaction with the surrounding neighborhood.

Permits Filed for 207 West 140th Street in Harlem, Manhattan

Permits have been filed for a six-story residential building at 207 West 140th Street in Harlem, Manhattan. Located between Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard and Frederick Douglass Boulevard, the lot is five blocks north of the 135th Street subway station, serviced by the B and C trains. Michael Callaghan of NME HDFC, INC is listed as the owner behind the applications.

Excavation and Foundation Work Underway at 323 East 61st Street on the Upper East Side

Excavation and work on the foundation walls is underway at 323 East 61st Street on the Upper East Side, where a new six-story community facility is set to rise. Located a couple blocks away from the Queensboro Bridge, the building will stand 74 feet tall and yield 61,740 square feet, with 49,750 square feet dedicated to community facilities. The structure is designed by Daniel Goldner Architects, while LaSalle Investment Management and William Macklowe Company are the owners. Memorial Sloan Kettering is leasing all the space.

Proposal for Improvements to Harlem’s Lenox Terrace Begins Public Review

A proposal to significantly improve Harlem‘s massive Lenox Terrace housing complex has begun public review as part of the Uniform Land Use Review Procedure process. Plans call for the addition of mixed-income housing, six acres of green space, and retail to the site located between Lenox Avenue and Fifth Avenue, and from 132nd to 135th Streets. Lenox Terrace comprises over six square blocks and houses more than 4,000 people across six buildings.

Condominium Sales Launch for Eleven Hancock in Central Harlem

Sales have launched at Eleven Hancock, a ground-up condominium building in Harlem. Located at 11 Hancock Place between Morningside Avenue and West 124th Street, the 12-story, 130,000-square-foot building will comprise 71 studio, one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom residences, about half of which will have private outdoor space. Nortco Development is responsible for the project, Issac & Stern for the design, and Lemay + Escobar for the interiors. The property is situated one block to the south of the 125th Street subway station, serviced by the A, B, C, and D trains, and is near the northeast corner of Morningside Park.

200 Amsterdam Avenue Tops Out at 668 Feet Tall on the Upper West Side

Construction at 200 Amsterdam Avenue has topped out. The residential skyscraper stands 668 feet high above the Upper West Side and has secured the title of tallest structure in the neighborhood, if only temporarily. The 51-story building is designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects and developed by SJP Properties. CetraRuddy is the lead interior designer for the 283,000-square-foot project.

200 Amsterdam Avenue Halfway to 668-Foot Pinnacle on the Upper West Side

Work on 200 Amsterdam Avenue is moving along smoothly, recently passing the halfway mark in its ascent to its 668-foot-tall parapet. The upcoming 51-story residential development, which will briefly hold the title as the tallest skyscraper on the Upper West Side, is designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects , and developed by SJP Properties.
