New York Blood Center recently announced plans to expand its existing headquarters at 310 East 67th Street on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Renderings from Ennead Architects offer a first look at the “Center East” project, which includes the replacement of the Blood Center’s existing property with a 16-story mixed-use tower.
The Landmarks Preservation Commission is now considering proposals to renovate the façade of a 19th century townhouse in the Central Park West Historic District of the Upper West Side. The property is located at 55 West 86th Street between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue, and was originally constructed in 1889.
Excavation and foundation work is moving along at 2551 Broadway, site of a 276,578-square-foot mixed-use building on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Permits filed in early February list Stephen B. Jacobs Group as the architect of record and Tyler Workman under the Paragon JV Prop III LLC as the owner behind the applications for the project, which will rise 22 stories at the corner of 96th Street. The property will contain 130 residences spread across 215,866 square feet, for an average scope of 1,660 square feet, most likely indicating condominiums. The building will also feature 9,080 square feet of commercial space.
Construction has topped out on 212 West 93rd Street, a 14-story condominium building on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. The project is designed by Eran Chen, head of ODA, and developed by Landsea Homes and Leyton Properties, which acquired the 9,000-square-foot plot from the Shaare Zedek Congregation for $34.3 million. The property will contain 20 units designed by GRADE New York and marketed by The Lindsey Stokes Team, a division within real estate brokerage Compass.
Construction is set to resume at 50 West 66th Street, the soon-to-be tallest skyscraper on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Progress had been stalled on the 775-foot-tall residential tower until recently, when a joint venture was formed between Extell Development Company and global investment entity Tennor Holding B.V. to complete the project. Snøhetta is the designer of the 69-story structure, which will eventually eclipse the parapet of the neighborhood’s current title-holding skyscraper, 200 Amsterdam Avenue.
