The Frick Collection’s Expansion Continues to Take Shape at 1 East 70th Street on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

Work is progressing on the renovation and expansion of The Frick Collection, an 88-year-old art museum at 1 East 70th Street on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by Annabelle Selldorf of Selldorf Architects with Beyer Blinder Belle as the architect of record, the $160 million project involves the construction of a seven-story extension that will increase the historic institution’s footprint by 18,000 square feet to 197,000 square feet, as well as the renovation of the existing structure that will improve its infrastructure and accessibility. Sciame Construction is the general contractor for the undertaking, which broke ground in May 2021 after gaining approval from the Landmarks Preservation Commission. The Frick Collection is bound by East 71st Street to the north, East 70th Street to the south, and Fifth Avenue and Central Park to the west.

Anagram’s Façade Nears Completion at 1 West 60th Street on Manhattan’s Upper West Side

Exterior work continues to progress on Anagram, a 25-story residential tower at 1 West 60th Street  on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Designed by INC Architecture & Design with SLCE Architects as the architect of record and developed by Global Holdings Management Group, the 281-foot-tall structure will span 180,813 square feet and yield 123 market-rate and affordable housing units with interiors by The Setting, as well as 20,000 square feet of retail space on the first two levels. Pavarini McGovern is the general contractor and DeSimone Consulting Engineers is the façade consultant for the property, which is alternatively addressed as 1841 Broadway and located at the corner of Broadway and West 60th Street, just north of Columbus Circle and the southwest corner of Central Park.

17 West 60th Street’s Expansion And Renovation Progresses on Manhattan’s Upper West Side

Construction is moving along on 17 West 60th Street, a renovation and expansion project for the Shefa School on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Designed by Dattner Architects, the project involves the construction of a four-floor, 40-foot-tall pavilion atop the parapet of the 102-year-old structure that will raise its height from 12 to 16 stories, as well as the renovation of its interiors and replacement of its façade. The Jewish academic organization purchased a ground lease at the address for $49.5 million and plans to relocate from 40 East 29th Street to the new 75,000-square-foot facility. McGowan Builders is the general contractor for the property, which is located on an interior lot between Broadway and Ninth Avenue.

Excavation Progresses for Northwell Medical Pavilion at 1345 Third Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

Excavation is progressing for Northwell Medical Pavilion, a 15-story medical facility for Lenox Hill Hospital at 1345 Third Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by Ennead Architects with EwingCole as the medical architect and Northwell Health and The University Financing Foundation as the developers, the 200,000-square-foot outpatient center will stand nearly 215 feet tall and offer specialized cancer care services, imaging and lab testing, cardiac care, neuroscience programs, a sleep study center, acute and chronic disease management, social work services, and more. JB&B is the MEP engineer, Severud Associates is the structural engineer, and  Lendlease is the general contractor for the $450 million project, which is located in Lenox Hill between East 76th and East 77th Streets.
