Over the course of the project’s two-year evolution, YIMBY has chronicled the construction of 505 West 19th Street, in West Chelsea, which now hosts two conjoined buildings. The eastern component will contain 25 condos and two penthouses, while the western structure will have eight full-floor-plus units, as well as a duplex penthouse, which YIMBY can now reveal.

Eight-Story, 64-Unit Residential Project At 70 West 139th Street Gets Financed, Harlem

Harlen Housing Associates, owner of the 214-unit Section 8 building at 560 Lenox Avenue in northern Harlem, has been planning a second facility on the adjacent lot at 70 West 139th Street for nearly a decade. Now, construction loans have been obtained for the eight-story, 64-unit project, according to Harlem+Bespoke. The building will measure 55,355 square feet in total, which includes 1,878 square feet of community space on the ground floor, and 42 of the 64 units will be designated as affordable. Peter Franzese Design and Engineering is the applicant of record.


308 West 40th Street

21-Story, 60-Room Hotel Filed At 308 West 40th Street, Midtown West

Roughly a year ago, YIMBY reported on applications for a mysterious 13-story commercial building at 308 West 40th Street in the Garment District. Now, new permits have been filed for a 21-story, 60-key hotel. It appears the project has changed hands since last year, with Bing Chui — doing business as 308 Realty Holding LLC — listed as the owner,. Noel Wong’s Long Island-based ADB Associates is the architect of record, and the hotel will measure just 17,410 square feet, rising on a 25-foot-wide lot. Rooms will average 290 square feet each, and an old tenement building was demolished in 2013.


85 Attorney Street

Six-Story, 11-Unit Conversion & Expansion Tops Out At 85 Attorney Street, Lower East Side

A two-story addition to an old four-story factory appears to be topped-out at 85 Attorney Street, on the Lower East Side, per Bowery Boogie. Once complete, the six-story, 10,000 square-foot residential building will contain 11 units averaging 909 square feet apiece. A roof terrace will be located above the sixth floor. Morris Platt is the developer, and Joseph Pell Lombardi is reportedly the architect of record, although Yoram Finkelstein is listed as the latest applicant on permits. Completion in 2016 seems likely.


16 West 40th Street

New Rendering Of 33-Story Mixed-Use Project At 16 West 40th Street, Midtown

YIMBY reported on the initial applications filed in January of 2014 for a 33-story mixed-use building at 12-20 West 40th Street, on Bryant Park, and the project’s latest renderings surfaced last spring after multiple redesigns. Now, The New York Times has more details, stating the 33-story structure will contain roughly 230 hotel rooms from floors two through 15, and 57 condos beginning on the 16th floor. Retail space and a restaurant will operate on the ground floor. HFZ Capital Group is developing, while British architect David Chipperfield is designing, and sales are expected to begin this October, with completion scheduled for early 2017.
