Earlier this week we reported on demolition filings to make way for construction of the new Irish Arts Center. The permits were to clear away most of 726 11th Avenue to expand the center’s footing in Hell’s Kitchen. Now, YIMBY has the reveal for new renderings of how the IAC will look from 11th Avenue, with an apparent 40% decrease in square footage.
Permits have been filed for an 11-story mid-rise residential building at 123 West 106th Street, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The project is situated three blocks from Central Park, and seven blocks from the famously massive yet unfinished Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine. The 1 train and the A, B, and C trains are all a few blocks away. CoSo Apartments will be responsible for the development.
Today, YIMBY has a look at plans for the restoration and expansion of Cort Theater, at 138 West 48th Street, between Sixth and Seventh Avenues. The building is in the heart of the Times Square Theater District, and was designed by Thomas W. Lamb, first opening its doors back in 1912.
An anonymous LLC has filed permits for a six-story residential building at 26 West 127th Street, in Harlem. The development will rise three blocks from the 125th Street Subway Station, serviced by the 2 and 3 trains. Metro North’s 125th Street Harlem station is also five blocks away.
Permits have been filed for a 19-story hotel to be built at 157 West 24th Street, between Sixth and Seventh Avenue, in Chelsea. The site is less than a block from a Whole Foods grocery store and has easy access to subway stations along 23rd Street, including the F and M trains on Sixth Avenue, the 1 and 2 trains on Seventh Avenue, and on Eighth Avenue, the C and E trains. Jin Sup An’s 157 West 24th Street Lodging LLC will be responsible for development.
