Back in 2014, YIMBY revealed renderings of Ozymandius Realty and Orange Management’s planned eight-story, 27-unit mixed-use building at 75 First Avenue in the East Village. Now, the long-time owners are selling the site to Colonnade Group. The site allows for an eight-story, 35,000 square foot building with retail, but it’s not known whether the new developer intends to follow the previously filed plans. The previous owners began assembling the site in 2005, when a 14-story building could have been built, before the city downzoned the East Village in 2008, according to The Real Deal. NO Architecture designed the old proposal.
Since December 2013, YIMBY has revealed three different conceptual renderings of 50 Hudson Yards, Related Companies’ planned commercial (and residential?) development project between 10th Avenue and Hudson Boulevard, and West 33rd and 34th Street, in Midtown West. Today, Related has reached a deal with McDonalds to acquire the last property at the development site, according to Crain’s. McDonald’s plans to close before the end of the year, and demolition will subsequently commence on the existing properties. A 3.3 million square foot mixed-use building could be built, though a final design has not yet been revealed.
In November of 2014, YIMBY revealed renderings of Radson Development’s eight-story, 54-unit mixed-use building planned at 275 West 140th Street, in northern Harlem, and now the building is finally rising above street level, per Harlem+Bespoke. Dubbed Strivers Plaza, the building will include an 8,000 square-foot supermarket on the ground floor, as well as a 500 square-foot community facility space. Aufgang Architects is designing, and completion can likely be expected closer to 2017.
YIMBY last brought you an update on the 29-story & 57-unit tower at 301 East 50th Street, in Midtown East, back in November of 2014. Since then, the building has received the rest of its façade, per Curbed. CBSK Ironstate is developing, and the building will also include 6,200 square feet of ground-floor retail space. The limestone-clad structure was designed by COOKFOX Architects, and opening can probably be expected before the year’s end.
Over the summer, Related Companies’ 11-story, 39-unit mixed-use building at 520 West 28th Street, in West Chelsea, was just starting to climb above street level, and now Curbed has a slew of new exterior and interior renderings via the project’s teaser site. The building will be topped by a 6,391 square-foot triplex penthouse, and 11,180 square feet of retail space is planned on the ground floor. Zaha Hadid is designing the project, Hayes Davidson crafted the renderings, and completion is expected in late 2016.
