In December 2000, the city evicted 60 tenants from an illegally converted loft building at 247 Water Street in Dumbo, and landlord Joshua Guttman ultimately bought out the renters for $30,000 each. When he applied to legalize the building’s apartments, the city denied his request, and a week later, a mysterious four-alarm fire raged through brick factory. Now, after years of sitting vacant and boarded up, the five-story building between Bridge and Gold Streets may become office space.

YIMBY has word that the 100,000-ton steel order placed for the construction of Related’s Hudson Yards development is now making its way to the Far West Side, and Curbed has photographic evidence. Dubbed “The Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards”, the seven-story, 1 million square-foot retail base being built between 10 and 30 Hudson Yards will feature 100 different establishments, and is scheduled to open in 2018.

Wired revealed renderings earlier today of Bjarke Ingels’ fantastic vision for 2 World Trade Center, also known as 200 Greenwich Street. Last week, News Corp. and 21st Century Fox signed a letter of intent to lease 1.3 million square feet at Silverstein’s 2 World Trade Center, in the Financial District, which would warrant the building’s redesign by BIG and eventual construction.

In February, YIMBY brought you news of Bushburg Properties’ commercial conversion planned at 65 Porter Avenue, which would turn a single-story, 32,620 square-foot warehouse into a commercial building featuring retail and offices in southern East Williamsburg. Now, Brownstoner has renderings, and the building will have commercial units ranging from 630 to 5,000 square feet. A new façade is in store, and future tenants can expect to move in starting January 2016. Michael Avramides Architects is designing.

The marketing team states that the site is ripe for a hotel development.
