425 Park Avenue’s Concrete Core Reaches Top Floor in Midtown East

Construction is moving fast for 425 Park Avenue, as is the curtain wall. The new Midtown office tower rising on Manhattan’s most prestigious thoroughfare saw steel begin climbing rapidly as soon as construction breeched the original partially-demolished extant structure. As it now stands, topping out appears imminent. The concrete core has reached the top floor, while the steel has 15 more stories remaining before its final 41st level. L&L Holding Company is responsible for the development.

Triangle Equities has announced an expedited construction plan for their Terminal Logistics Center by the John F. Kennedy Airport. Located at 130-24 South Conduit Avenue in South Ozone Park, Queens, the building will be a multi-tenant hub for air and ground cargo. Groundbreaking has been moved forward to the middle of 2019.

The site is located on the same block as the 125th Street Metro-North train station, and the 125th Street subway station serviced by the 4, 5, and 6 trains. The Durst Organization is listed as responsible for development.

New Renderings for 441 Ninth Avenue aka Hudson Commons, Hudson Yards

With the Hudson Yards and Manhattan West mega developments in Midtown dominating the news, it is easy to forget one sizable project just a block away. Hudson Commons is a major transformation of an eight-story warehouse built in 1962. An additional 17 floors will be added atop the black masonry-clad tower, bringing 700,000 square feet of new office space to the neighborhood. Cove Property and Baupost Group are responsible for the development.

Permits have been filed for a six-story hotel at 40-30 23rd Street in Long Island City, Queens. The site is not far from the action in the neighborhood, being just three blocks away from the 21st Street subway station, serviced by the F trains, and five blocks away is the Queensboro Plaza subway station, serviced by the 7, N, and W trains. Rong Dong is listed as behind the applications.

The latest Upper West Side tower designed by Skidmore Owings and Merrill is sealing up. It has ten months since the 33-story residential building at 1865 Broadway topped out, and just now the façade has finally reached the top.

Permits have been filed for an 11-story mixed-use building at 165 Lexington Avenue in Kips Bay, Manhattan. The site is four blocks away from the 33rd Street subway station, serviced by the 6 trains. Lexington Partners, a private equities firm with $38 billion in total assets, will be responsible for the development.

In just under two years, the tower and façade have topped out, sales have launched, and completion is expected by the end of the year. Sheldon Solow’s Solow Building Company is developing the 42-story minimalist Murray Hill skyscraper.

The nine-building development will cost over one billion dollars and create nearly two million square feet across a six-acre area, and the aerial scope of construction is now expanding well beyond the initial first new two structures.
