Dekalb Commons Affordable Housing Complex Breaks Ground in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn

City officials, project partners, and community leaders recently joined to celebrate the commencement of construction at Dekalb Commons, a three-building affordable housing complex in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Designed by Magnusson Architecture & Planning and developed in partnership by the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation and St. Nicks Alliance, the buildings are currently addressed as 652 Dekalb Avenue, 639 Dekalb Avenue, and 1187 Fulton Street.

The affordable housing lottery has launched for 23-27 Eldert Street, two four-story residential buildings in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Designed by Asher Hershkowitz Architect, the structures yield 16 residences total. Available on NYC Housing Connect are six units for residents at 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $76,286 to $198,250.

The affordable housing lottery has launched for 1775 Coney Island Avenue, an eight-story mixed-use building in Midwood, Brooklyn. Designed by Studio Gallos and developed by Eddie Yair, the structure yields 75 residences and 22 parking spaces. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 23 units for residents at 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $74,572 to $227,630.

Construction has kicked off on Fischer Senior Apartments, a senior housing property at 97 West 169th Street in Highbridge, The Bronx. Designed by Shakespeare Gordon Vlado Architects and developed by West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing (WSFSSH), the structure will yield 105 homes for seniors, including 54 units for the formerly homeless. All of the units will be reserved for households 55 years and older making less than 50 percent of the area median income.

Housing Lottery Launches for Turin HDFC at 609 Columbus Avenue on the Upper West Side

The affordable housing lottery has launched for Turin HDFC, a 19-story cooperative building at 609 Columbus Avenue on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Built in 1971, the structure yields 188 residences. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 24 resale units for residents at 165 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $135,709 to $326,205.

Urban League Empowerment Center Nears Completion at 121 West 125th Street in Harlem, Manhattan

Construction is nearing completion on the Urban League Empowerment Center, a 17-story mixed-use building at 121 West 125th Street in Harlem, Manhattan. Designed by Beyer Blinder Belle and developed by The Prusik Group, BRP Companies, L+M Development Partners, and Taconic Partners, the 414-000-square-foot structure will yield 170 affordable housing units, 70,000 square feet of Class A office space, and 110,000 square feet of retail area including a Target and a 28,000-square-foot Trader Joe’s on the ground floor. The development will serve as the home for the National Urban League and the Urban Civil Rights Experience Museum. Congress Builders is the general contractor for the property, which is located between West 126th Street to the north, 125th Street to the south, Malcolm X Boulevard to the east, and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard to the west.

Designed by Think Architecture and Design and developed in part by Northeastern Conference of Seventh Day Adventists, the structure yields 63 residences. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 43 units for residents at 50 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $0 to $56,500.

Mayor Eric Adams Announces Development Plan to Create 4,000 New Apartments in Central Brooklyn

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has announced a multi-phase initiative to create up to 4,000 new apartments in Central Brooklyn. Known as the Atlantic Avenue Mixed-Use Plan, projections also anticipate the creation of more than 1,500 income-restricted homes centered on a 13-block stretch of Atlantic Avenue.
