For over a year, YIMBY has been reporting on plans for condominiums near the High Line at 514 West 24th Street in Chelsea. Now, construction of the building, dubbed the Fitzroy, is set to commence. Permits have been approved, a source told YIMBY, which means work can start as soon as possible. The 10-story building will house 14 two- to five-bedroom units, plus ground floor retail. JDS Development Group and Largo Investments are the developers and Roman & Williams has designed the building. Sales have already launched, as has a website.
Earlier this year, BBC News profiled Soo Chan, of Singapore-based SCDA Architects, which included news on his West Chelsea project at 522 West 29th Street, an 11-story, 31-unit luxury residential project. That building is now on the rise, courtesy of Tectonic, with concrete being poured for the third floor. According to BBC, 16 condominiums will feature private swimming pools, and a small 906 square-foot restaurant will be located on the ground floor. Siras Oriel Development is behind the project, and completion is expected towards the end of 2016.
Earlier this month, YIMBY brought you a construction update on the 11-story, 30-unit condominium project at 155 West 18th Street, in southern Chelsea, and now Curbed has the first full rendering of the project, as well as news that it has been dubbed The Flynn. As previously reported, the building is now topped-out and receiving its cladding. Completion is expected in mid-2016, and the sales launch is planned for this December. IGI-USA is the developer, and ODA-Architecture is designing.
YIMBY last checked in earlier this year on the 19-story, 44-unit residential building at 551 West 21st Street, in West Chelsea, when glass and white masonry were being installed, and now the building is wrapping up construction, with only the Juliet balconies to be fastened on, courtesy of Tectonic. Most of the exterior details have been completed, and interior work is likely in full swing. SR Capital is developing, Foster + Partners is the design architect, and Beyer Blinder Belle is the architect of record. Completion and move-ins are expected early next year.
