FIT’s New Academic Building Tops Out at 220 West 28th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan

Construction has topped out on Fashion Institute of Technology‘s ten-story New Academic Building at 220 West 28th Street in the Garment District of Chelsea. Designed by SHoP Architects, the 110,000-square-foot structure is engineered to achieve LEED Gold certification and will yield new classrooms, administrative offices, review and exhibition spaces, and a student quad illuminated by skylights. EE Cruz & Company is the general contractor for the Midtown, Manhattan project, which is located between Seventh and Eighth Avenues, within close proximity of Penn StationMadison Square Garden, and Moynihan Train Hall.

Located between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, the lot is two blocks south of the 23st Street subway station, serviced by the 1 train. Yiannes Einhorn of Grid Group is listed as the owner behind the applications, after purchasing the property from Jadlamm Realty Corp. for $31 million last year.

Park House Reaches Full Completion at 500 West 22nd Street in West Chelsea, Manhattan

Construction is complete on Park House, an eight-story residential building at 500 West 22nd Street in West Chelsea. Designed by Annabelle Selldorf of Selldorf Architects and developed by Brantwood Capital, the 33,662-square-foot structure yields ten residential units and 1,959 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Compass is handling sales and marketing for the one- to four-bedroom homes and two duplex penthouses, with pricing ranging from $2.65 million to $12 million. Foundations Group served as the general contractor for the property, which is alternately addressed as 197 Tenth Avenue and stands at the corner of Tenth Avenue and West 22nd Street, a short walk from the High Line. Belden Tristate Building Materials supplied the hand laid bricks for the project.

One High Line Resumes Exterior Work at 76 Eleventh Avenue in Chelsea, Manhattan

Exterior work has resumed on One High Line, a pair of 26- and 36-story mixed-use towers at 76 Eleventh Avenue in the Midtown, Manhattan neighborhood of Chelsea. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and developed by Witkoff Group, the 900,000-square-foot complex will yield 236 condominium units, 137 hotel rooms, 85,000 square feet of retail space, and a public plaza. Steve Witkoff purchased the property, formerly known as The XI, in a foreclosure sale for $900 million and partnered with Access Industries and Monroe Capital to complete the stalled project. Gilles & Boissier and Gabellini Sheppard Associates are the interior designers and Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group is handling sales and marketing for the High Line-adjacent property, which is bound by Tenth Avenue to the east, West Street to the west, West 17th Street to the south, and West 18th Street to the north.
