Construction is nearing topping out on 428 West 19th Street, an 11-story residential building in Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by BKSK Architects and developed by Anbau Enterprises, which purchased the property for $18.5 million in 2020, the 118-foot-tall structure will yield 32 condominium units with an average scope of 1,463 square feet. Ryder Construction is the general contractor for the project, which is located on an interior lot between Ninth and Tenth Avenues.

Recent photos show the reinforced concrete superstructure standing ten stories, with only the columns, walls, and core for the 11th floor remaining before reaching the roof slab. Temporary concrete formwork and shoring are holding up the recently poured floors directly below, and metal scaffolding and black netting are starting to cover the eastern corner of the building, indicating imminent façade work.

No official rendering of 428 West 19th Street has been released, but a black and white elevation posted on site previews the outcome of the building’s exterior. The massing rises uniformly for the first eight floors before a series of stepped setbacks leading to the west rise up to the roof parapet and mechanical bulkhead. The façade appears to be composed of brick surrounding an orthodox grid of large windows. A garage door is seen on the northern corner of the property.

The nearest subways from the site are the A, C, E, and L trains at the 14th Street station along Eighth Avenue.

428 West 19th Street’s anticipated completion date is set for July 2024.
