Financial technology firm Plaid recently signed a lease for 45,300 square feet at 530 Broadway, an 11-story office building in Soho, Manhattan. The lease was announced by real estate development firm SHVO, which acquired the 198,000-square-foot landmarked property in March 2020. Plaid will relocate its New York City offices to a build-to-suit space within the building to support its continued growth.
The New York Police Department’s bomb squad is set to relocate its operations to 241 West 26th Street, a six-story structure that formerly operated as a parking garage in Chelsea, Manhattan. The project involves renovations to the structure’s 37,725 square feet of interiors and refurbishments and light modifications to its exterior. Tori Operating Corp. is listed as the owner of the site, which is located between Seventh and Eighth Avenues.
Construction is complete on Le Gallerie, a seven-story commercial building at 132 West 14th Street on the border of Greenwich Village and Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed, developed, and owned by KPG Funds, the structure yields 62,000 square feet of Class A office space with floor plates ranging from 6,000 to more than 8,500 square feet. The development also contains 10,588 square feet of lower-level retail space marketed by Ripco Real Estate. JLL Capital Markets is leading leasing and marketing for the office space at the property, which is located between Sixth and Seventh Avenues.
Long Island City, Queens is continuing its transformation with a host of new buildings cropping up on some of the last available parcels, and older structures giving way to new, larger construction. YIMBY photographed several examples around the booming residential district of the downtown area, most of which are near the elevated Queensboro Plaza station serving the 7, N, and W trains, and the Queens Plaza station for the E, M, and R trains. Other sites are located in the neighborhood across the Sunnyside Yard facility.
Construction has resumed on 142 33rd Street, a seven-story hotel in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Designed by Jonathan Newel Architecture, the 32,050-square-foot building is planned to yield 72 guest rooms with an average scope of 445 square feet, according to permits filed in 2015. The project is also slated to include a ground-floor restaurant and offices, a fitness room in the cellar, and a parking lot with 16 spaces. Kue Jor Ng of Sunrise Hospitality Ventures is listed as the owner of the property, which is situated on an interior lot between 3rd and 4th Avenues.
