537 West 59th Street Nears Completion in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan

Construction is nearing completion on 537 West 59th Street, a nine-story homeless shelter in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan. Designed by Dattner Architects and developed by The Hudson Companies and Project Renewal, a non-profit that offers housing and services for the homeless, the 98-foot-tall structure will yield 44,845 square feet of community facility space with 200 beds for single women in dorm-style rooms. The project with Broadway Builders as the construction company, will also include a 1,500-square-foot medical clinic, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) office space, an 800-square-foot commercial kitchen, a library, and programming space for social services and recreation. The property is located on an interior lot between Amsterdam and West End Avenues.

Rendering Revealed for 1578 Lexington Avenue in East Harlem, Manhattan

A rendering has been revealed for 1578 Lexington Avenue, a 13-story medical office and community facility building in East Harlem, Manhattan. Designed by Kutnicki Bernstein Architects and developed by Slate Property Group and Evenhar Development Corporation, the project is slated to house Mount Sinai Health System programs across 150,000 square feet of space. The remaining portions of the building will feature the new East Harlem Center operated by Children’s Aid, covering nearly 19,000 square feet across the lower levels, as well as a new home for Life Changers Church on the ground and lower levels. The property is located at the corner of East 101st Street.

Lenox Hill Hospital Expansion Approved by City Council at 100 East 77th Street on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

The New York City Council unanimously approved plans for the expansion and modernization of Lenox Hill Hospital at 100 East 77th Street in the Lenox Hill district of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by Ennead Architects and Ewing Cole and developed by Northwell Health, the new $2 billion structure is expected to rise 370 feet tall along the eastern half of the city block. The existing 160-foot-tall medical complex is more than 150 years old and is bounded by Lexington and Park Avenues and East 76th and East 77th Streets.

Demolition is complete at 132 East 125th Street, the site of an eight-story mixed-use building in Harlem, Manhattan. Designed by Aufgang Architects and developed by Maddd Equities, the 100,000-square-foot structure will yield 73 affordable housing units in one- to three-bedroom layouts. The project will also include 45,000 square feet of medical office space and 7,000 square feet of ground-floor retail. The property is located at the corner of East 125th Street and Lexington Avenue.

Construction Breaks Ground On White Plains Hospital Expansion Project in Westchester County

Construction recently broke ground on a ten-story expansion of the White Plains Hospital at 41 East Post Road in White Plains, Westchester County. Designed by Boston-based Payette, the 475,000-square-foot annex will increase the hospital’s bed capacity from 292 to 436. The expansion will also add ten more operating suites and 25,000 square feet to the Emergency Department, more than doubling its current scope. The site is bound by East Post Road to the north, Maple Street to the south, Davis Road to the east, and South Lexington Avenue to the west.
