Silverstein Properties has announced a new lease agreement with Starr, a global insurance and investment organization, at 1177 Avenue of the Americas in Midtown, Manhattan. Starr’s lease covers approximately 49,264 square feet across the entire seventh and eighth floors of the skyscraper. Originally designed by Swanke Hayden Connell Architects, the 47-story Class A office building was built in 1992 and spans approximately 1,000,000 square feet in total. The property is located between West 45th and 46th Streets.
Tenants of 1177 Avenue of the Americas have access to Seventeen by Inspire, an amenity floor offering communal and wellness spaces, as well as Silverstein’s broader Inspire network. Additionally, the building’s lobby was recently renovated and will soon include a new location of Naya, a fast-casual Middle Eastern restaurant.
The property is located in close proximity to the Port Authority Bus Terminal, Grand Central Station, and Penn Station, offering easy transit within and outside of the New York City Metropolitan area.

This building would be a signature skyscraper in any other city, but because it’s in Manhattan it just blends in with everything else and it goes unnoticed.
Agreed. It’s a gorgeous Post-Modern tower and was very comfortable to work in.
Miss you SHCA!
Perhaps a re-cladding in brushed black aluminum would
Make it a standout.
I’d say get rid of the bay windows in the top third of the building to de-age the building a bit. But man, I love this Art Deco Revival. Are you saying recladding the stone? Or recladding the panels? Cause I love the stone.
What a beautiful building – never realized till these photos!!
If New York were to have an “official” architectural style, I would vote for Art Deco.
Beautiful
It should not be reclad… its postmodern style is just entering its stride in appreciation.
