Excavation and early foundation work are underway at 133-09 37th Avenue, the site of a 17-story mixed-use building in Flushing, Queens. Designed by Hill West Architects and developed under the Century Square LLC, the 192-foot-tall structure will span 173,344 square feet, with 101,418 square feet designated for commercial space, 71,589 square feet for residential space, and 337 square feet for community facility space. The building will yield 102 rental units averaging 701 square feet, as well as a cellar level, two loading berths, and 313 enclosed parking spaces. The site is bound by 36th Road to the north, 37th Avenue to the south, College Point Boulevard to the west, and a separate adjacent residential and hotel construction project at 133-25 37th Avenue to the east.

Recent photographs show various construction machinery and equipment, including excavators, pile drivers, and hollow steel pilings, being used across the property as the land continues to be excavated below street level. Large steel plates are holding back the earth around the perimeter where the reinforced concrete foundation walls will be formed. YIMBY expects below-grade work to steadily continue throughout the winter months and into spring, possibly seeing the superstructure emerge near the middle of the year.

The main exterior rendering depicts a four-story podium with the main tower set back from the street and rising uninterrupted except for a handful of upper-level setbacks leading to the mechanical bulkhead. The façade appears to be a mix of floor-to-ceiling glass windows, dark metal paneling, ventilation grilles, spandrels, and mullions. Glass railings will line the setbacks and podium rooftop, and there are multiple stacks of balconies. Dark stonework clads the sloped ground level and new tree-lined sidewalks facing 37th Avenue, and there will be a two-story corner cutout by the intersection of College Point Boulevard and 37th Avenue with signage and LED panels directly above the front doors.

The nearest subway from the site is the 7 train at Flushing-Main Street station along Roosevelt Avenue to the southeast. A list of residential amenities have yet to be disclosed.

133-09 37th Avenue’s anticipated completion date is slated for August 2027, as noted on site.

There was no way to expand further, in addition to adding a floor to the top. Land is always useful when there are buildings and laws supporting it: Thanks to Michael Young.
