Google will no longer be a tenant of the 1.7 million-square-foot St. John’s Terminal campus—the tech giant will purchase the entire development. Located in Hudson Square, Manhattan, the commercial campus comprises three distinct buildings at 315 Hudson Street, 345 Hudson Street, and St. John’s Terminal at 550 Washington Street.
More exterior progress on Google’s 1.3 million-square-foot office at 550 Washington Street has been made in Hudson Square. Designed by COOKFOX Architects and developed by Oxford Properties, the topped-out building is the central component of the “Googleplex” that will encompass a total of 1.7 million square feet across three separate structures with the other two sites being 315 Hudson Street and 345 Hudson Street. Turner Construction is responsible for constructing the 12-story steel-framed edifice that spans two full city blocks between West Street, West Houston Street, Washington Street, and the New York Department of Sanitation building.
Exterior work is wrapping up on 219 Hudson Street, a ten-story mixed-use building in Hudson Square. Designed by Rawlings Architects and developed by Joel Braver, the property will yield 14 residential units, ground-floor retail space, and a community facility at the intersection of Hudson and Canal Streets, just to the west of the entrance to the Holland Tunnel.
Construction is coming to a close on 102 Charlton Street, a 21-story residential building in Hudson Square. Designed by Ismael Leyva Architects and developed by Lalezarian Properties, the 210-foot-tall structure yields 59,323 square feet and 61 units. The property is located on the south side of the block between Greenwich and Hudson Streets.
Construction is rising rapidly on Disney’s 1.2-million-square-foot headquarters at 137 Varick Street in Hudson Square. Alternately addressed as Four Hudson Square, the 22-story, 338-foot-tall structure is designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and is being developed by Silverstein Properties. The media giant purchased the parcel from Trinity Church Real Estate for $650 million and Skanska was responsible for the demolition of four structures that wrapped up last summer. Lendlease is in charge of constructing the new headquarters, which is bound by Varick Street to the east, Spring Street to the south, Hudson Street to the west, and Vandam Street to the north.
