Renderings Revealed for SOM-Designed Residential Complex at 1200 Madison Street in Hoboken, New Jersey

New renderings have been revealed for 1200 Madison Street, a proposed multi-tower residential complex along the western edge of Hoboken, New Jersey. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and developed by Pegasus Properties, the development would be built in three phases and feature three 21-story buildings rising 230 feet. The project is slated to yield a total of 1,301 residential units in studio- to three-bedroom layouts, including 135 affordable housing units, as well as 832 indoor parking spaces, nearly 38,000 square feet of public space, and 51,860 square feet of ground-floor retail. The 3.5-acre site is bounded by the 14th Street Viaduct to the north, 12th Street to the south, Madison Street to the east, and the Hudson Bergen Light Rail tracks to the west.

Hoboken officials and community members recently gathered to celebrate the opening of the newly expanded Southwest Resiliency Park, a project that doubles the size of the original park that first opened in 2017. The expansion, led by Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla, Hudson County Executive Craig Guy, and Fourth Ward Councilman Ruben Ramos, adds 1 acre of public space designed by Starr Whitehouse. New additions integrate recreation amenities with green infrastructure as part of the City’s larger stormwater management and resiliency strategy. The park is located at the corner of Harrison Street and Observer Highway.

Hoboken Urby Breaks Ground at 256 Observer Highway in Hoboken, New Jersey

Construction has begun on Hoboken Urby, a 16-story residential building at 256 Observer Highway in Hoboken, New Jersey. Designed by BKSK Architects and developed by Urby and Ironstate, the nearly 420,000-square-foot structure will yield 345 rental apartments in studio- to three-bedroom layouts and more than 17,000 square feet of lower-level retail space. The project will be the ninth in the developer’s portfolio and will rise from a site bounded by Observer Highway to the south, Park Avenue to the east, and Willow Avenue to the west.

Construction has begun on Charlie, a 27-story residential building within Hoboken Connect at NJ Transit’s Hoboken Terminal in Hoboken, New Jersey. Designed by Salas O’Brien and Allied and developed by LCOR, the 365,000-square-foot structure will yield 386 units, with 20 percent designated as affordable housing, as well as ground-floor retail space.
