LPC Approves Four-Story, Single-Family Conversion Project At 8 Montague Terrace, Brooklyn Heights

The Landmarks Preservation Commission has approved the restoration of the four-story, multi-family building at 8 Montague Terrace, in Brooklyn Heights. The 11,266 square-foot structure will shrink to 11,122 square feet and will be converted to a single-family townhouse, according to the Brooklyn Daily Eagle. The building presently contains eight units. Thomas Hut of HS2 Architecture is designing the restoration, which would include the addition of balconies on the structure’s rear upper levels. It’s that work which the LPC had to approve.


220 Cadman Plaza West

Developer Offers $75M To Build 40-Story Residential Tower At 220 Cadman Plaza West, Brooklyn Heights

An unnamed developer is offering to pay at least $75 million to build a 40-story residential tower at 220 Cadman Plaza West, in Brooklyn Heights, according to the Brooklyn Daily Eagle. The offer is being made to Whitman Owner Corp. and its shareholder residents. If approved, the existing single-story commercial buildings at the site, including 89 Pineapple Walk, would be demolished. In their place, a new residential tower would have possibly hundreds of condo units as well as new retail space. Shareholders are expected to vote before January 15 on whether the board should seriously consider the offer.



One° 15 Brooklyn Marina

Construction Starts on Eight-Acre, 140-Slip Marina In Brooklyn Bridge Park, Brooklyn Heights

Construction has started on an eight-acre, 140-slip marina between Piers 4 and 5 in Brooklyn Bridge Park, in Brooklyn Heights, according to The Wall Street Journal. Edgewater Resources LLC and SUTL Group are building the marina, and instead of drilling into the seabed, concrete blocks and Seaflex cord are being used to anchor the dock. The boating dock is being dubbed One° 15 Brooklyn Marina, and 145 people have already signed memberships with the developers. Opening is expected next spring.


146 Pierrepont Street

19-Story, 86-Unit Residential Building Revealed At 146 Pierrepont Street, Brooklyn Heights

Earlier this summer, YIMBY reported on applications for a 19-story, 86-unit residential building at 146 Pierrepont Street, in Brooklyn Heights, and now renderings of the project have been revealed, per the Brooklyn Daily Eagle. The development site spans through the block to 189 Montague Street, and 6,232 square feet of ground-floor retail space will share both sides of the new building. Above, twenty percent of the 86 rental units (18) will be let at below-market rates. Jonathan Rose Companies is developing, and Marvel Architects is designing.
