Construction on the Virgin Hotel at 1225 Broadway has reached yet another milestone. Since we last checked in May, the building has more than doubled in height, and is nearly two-thirds of the way to topping out 38 floors above street level. The project is being developed by the Lam Group and is part of a larger trend of new hotel towers in the NoMad area near the Empire State Building.
15 East 30th Street, also known as 126 Madison Avenue, has been making swift progress toward its 51-story pinnacle. 16 floors have now been built, comprising 30 percent of the eventual total floor count. The building will soon rise to be one of the tallest buildings in the NoMad neighborhood, featuring exceptional views of the Empire State Building.
Marriott International has announced that they are imminently officially breaking ground on a new Ritz Carlton at 1185 Broadway in NoMad, a trendy Manhattan neighborhood for new hotels. Marriot, the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, and the Flag Luxury Group are responsible for the development.
A weave of scaffolding and black netting has now shrouded the exterior facade of a former office building at 250 Fifth Avenue, which will soon be reborn as a hotel. The site is in NoMad, between West 28th Street and West 29th Street. With the facade designated as a landmark within the Madison Square North Historic District, the original five-story McKim, Mead and White structure, completed in 1907, will be part of the conversion that also calls for a new 23-story tower to the west of the original 111 year-old structure.
Permits have been pre-filed for a nine-story mixed-use building at 120 Lexington Avenue in NoMad, Manhattan. The site is a block away from the 6 Train’s 28th Street Station, and two stations away from both Union Square and Grand Central. Four blocks away is the scenic Madison Square Park. Daniel Dabakaroff of Skyland Management is listed as responsible for the development.
