A 200,000-square-foot expansion proposal was recently announced for The Valley Hospital at 4 Valley Health Plaza in Paramus, New Jersey. The six-story addition would expand the hospital’s capacity by over 135 beds, up from the current capacity of 350 beds, and include the construction of a new parking deck to handle the increased number of visitors and staff. The Valley Hospital’s main entrance located along Winters Avenue. An architect was not disclosed.
Renderings from the Paramus Planning Board depict the proposed new wing of the hospital, which would be constructed along the northeastern end of the existing medical center. A series of winding pathways and landscaping currently sit on the land slated for the potential new development. A diagram below shows the expansion that will join to the center of the superstructure. A bulkhead will cap the flat roof.

The view below looks southwest, previewing the new wing on the left. The addition will feature a façade of earth-toned paneling and ribbon windows to match the existing structure.

The existing hospital complex was constructed at a cost of $868 million and opened on April 14, 2024. A site plan application for the proposed wing is expected to be submitted later this year or in early 2027.
The property is located just west of the Garden State Parkway and east of Route 17.
Pending approvals, a potential groundbreaking could occur as early as 2027. A completion date has yet to be announced.

Tallest building in Paramus, by far!
That corner of Paramus is getting really dense with all those new residential building under construction nearby along the GSP. Glad they are building this. There is a real need for these expanded hospital centers. Morristown Hospital is planning a large expansion, as well. The NIMBY’s there hate it, but the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few in these cases, IMHO.
Often, car dealerships can tell you something of the community surrounding them. Weekly, I drive down Route 17, thru Paramus, passing a Lamborghini dealership..how many Lamborghini dealerships have you seen ?
