Exterior work is progressing on 305 Calyer Street, a six-story commercial building in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Developed by Samuel Yakobowicz of Greenpoint Industrial Services Corp., the 72-foot-tall structure will yield five floors of office space and an automotive repair shop and car wash on the first story. The 52,000-square-foot property is located at the intersection of Calyer and Jewel Streets.

The steel-framed superstructure is built to its pinnacle and framed with metal studs, and crews are currently in the process of installing yellow insulation boards on the lower levels. Scaffolding and black netting cover the upper stories, as well as the entirety of the northern and eastern elevations, and a sidewalk shed obscures the progress on the ground floor.

The below black and white diagram previews the main southern elevation, which will feature large garage doors lining Calyer Street and wide ribbon windows above the first level. The massing features three setbacks with metal railings, and the third, fifth, and sixth floors feature glass doors leading to these terraces. The drawing indicates the façade will be composed of brick and block masonry on the lower levels and brick veneer on the upper four stories.

The property was formerly occupied by a gas station, as seen in the following Google Street View image from before its demolition. Vertical construction began in 2017, but progress has been slow due to several stalls in work. It appears that the project is currently back on track.

The nearest subway from the site is the G train at the Greenpoint Avenue station to the west. The property is located near the Newtown Creek Water Treatment facility, as well as various factories and warehouses.

305 Calyer Street’s anticipated completion date is slated for summer 2025, as noted on site. However, sometime next year is possible if work continues uninterrupted.
