Construction is nearing completion on Starling, a six-story residential building at 66 Monitor Street in Jersey City’s Bergen-Lafayette neighborhood. Designed by GRT Architects and developed by Alpine Residential and Fields Grade, the project blends historic preservation with contemporary development and will yield 39 affordable and market-rate residential units and approximately 3,000 square feet of commercial space.
The structure incorporates the façade of a century-old building with four new levels above the original cornice line, and the lobby includes reclaimed materials from the original structure. The exterior of the vertical addition is composed of gray brick surrounding a grid of rectangular floor-to-ceiling windows with black frames. A setback on the main elevation is shown lined with a metal railing, indicating the presence of a private terrace.
Amenities will include a rooftop lounge, coworking spaces, a fitness center, golf simulator, and access to electric scooters. The building will also offer residents access to Tulu, an on-demand rental service for household and lifestyle products.
Starling is located in close proximity to the Liberty State Park NJ Transit Station, which services the Hudson-Bergen Train. Additionally, several stops for the 6 bus line are steps from the property.

  1. Did that pediment fall from the upper roof in the sack of Rome?
It’s perfectly paired with the modernist curves over and aside the side doors.
When the building was attacked, the symmetry was damaged.

    What is going on there??????

  2. Palladio spinning in his grave.

Transportation is convenient to the location of the building, contemporary development so it has beauty on its own: Thanks.
