Construction is complete on VU, a 36-story residential tower at 368 Third Avenue in the Midtown, Manhattan neighborhood of Kips Bay. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Minrav Development, the 145,000-square-foot structure yields 100 condominium units in studio to three-bedroom layouts and duplex penthouses with interiors designed by Paris Forino. Brown Harris Stevens Development Marketing is exclusively handling the marketing and sales for the property, which is located on Third Avenue between East 26th and East 27th Streets.

At the time of our last update in January, work was still concluding on the façade, with workers installing the bronze and gray metal paneling between the grid of floor-to-ceiling windows. This has all wrapped up in the intervening months, and recent photos show the completed look of the tower and its prominence over the surrounding neighborhood.

VU’s relative isolation from other tall structures will provide residents with prime views of the Midtown skyline and the adjacent NoMad district, which has seen considerable vertical progress over the past several years. Only a small amount of sidewalk scaffolding remains around the main ground-floor entrance along Third Avenue, but should be removed in the coming weeks.

Kitchens come with Miele appliances, honed Calcutta Z marble countertops and backsplashes, and a light palette of natural materials such as marble and white lacquer. Bleached white oak flooring is found throughout each unit alongside bathrooms with custom pieces from The Grace Collection, a line of enamel and polished chrome fixtures and accessories designed exclusively for VU by Paris Forino in collaboration with Waterworks. Master bathrooms are fitted with honed Bianco Dolomiti marble tiles with Nero Marquina marble accents, honed marble mosaic floors in an intricate pattern consisting of three different marbles, bleached walnut and blackened steel vanity with honed Bianco Dolomiti marble countertops, dual sinks, and customized walk-in showers. Secondary bathrooms showcase honed Eurasia Grigio Pearl marble floor tiles and crisp Aura Naturale wall tiles. Powder rooms feature European white oak floors, wainscot paneling, and honed white-colored marble vanities.

Two duplex penthouses with private outdoor terraces sit at the very top and feature 11-foot ceiling spans, unobstructed views, a built-in breakfast nook, an oversized central island, and Miele appliances including a full-height wine refrigerator.

The full floor of Paris Forino-designed amenities includes a residential lounge with work-from-home capabilities, a media room with large-format screen and surround sound system, a fitness and training center and quiet energy room for stretching and breath work. A landscaped rooftop terrace is on the 36th floor, and the 24-hour attended lobby is designed with honed Palladium travertine flooring and European white oak paneled walls with black and metal inserts. Other amenities include a pet spa, bicycle storage, a laundry room with high capacity washers and dryer, a dedicated mailroom, and both package and private storage available for purchase.

Amenities were waiting for purchase, on people who agreed to meet its residential tower. And suddenly looked to exterior design approaching the views, it stood up and went to beautiful appeared above neighborhood: Thanks to Michael Young.

  2. I think it’s alright.

  3. It’s not great but it sure is better than the white brick dreck that was built on the corner sixty years ago.

    • It’s a shame this new tower didn’t replace the “ugly stepmother” on the corner?! 😝

      • more nonsensical comments.
Actually, the new tower is referential and deferential to the existing corner building which raises its aesthetic as an ensemble. If only the lower section of the tower matched the height of the corner building as a urbanistic gesture. if only.

        • I’ll give the corner building 20 years. Buyout…demo…new tower.

Not sure why “reference” and “deference” to a turd is remotely admirable or desirable.
