Exterior work is moving along on Rose Hill, a 639-foot-tall residential skyscraper at 30 East 29th Street in NoMad. Designed by CetraRuddy Architecture and developed by Rockefeller Group, the 45-story tower will contain 123 condominiums marketed by CORE Real Estate.

Photographs by Tectonic show the state of construction at the site, which is located between Madison Avenue and Park Avenue. Since YIMBY’s last visit in late January, the crane has been disassembled and most of the envelope on the main northern elevation is in place. Only the podium section and the crown, which will feature the building’s most prominent expressions of its signature Art Deco-inspired detailing, await completion on this profile. The ornamental parapet will incorporate several setbacks adorned with dark etched metal panels, corner balconies, and black grilles, giving the structure a distinct appearance from other new projects in the area. These embellishments will be further accentuated by upward-shining spotlights. The ground floor will emulate the same style and lighting.

The exterior hoist on the southern profile is still up, but the rest of the façade surrounding it is already installed. Though it won’t achieve supertall status, Rose Hill’s significant height and classically inspired styling will nevertheless make an impression on the southern end of the Midtown skyline. The skyscraper joins several other tall residential and hotel projects in the works throughout NoMad, including Madison House by Handel Architects, 277 Fifth Avenue, the Ritz Carlton at 1185 Broadway by Rafael Vinoly, and the Virgin Hotel at 1225 Broadway.

Sales for homes ranging from one- to four-bedroom units already launched and start at $1.2 million. Closings are expected later this summer.

Rose Hill is slated to be completed in January 2021.
