Construction has topped out at 532 West 20th Street in Chelsea. The 11-story residential development rose quickly since YIMBY’s last update in August 2019, when only the first few floors were built. Located between Tenth Avenue and Eleventh Avenue, the project is designed by design-build firm DDG, which purchased the plot for $24.25 million in 2014. The building will contain 27,019 square feet of residential space divided into nine apartments, averaging 3,000 square feet apiece.

New photos show the main 50-foot-wide northern elevation facing West 20th Street, enveloped in scaffolding and black netting. It is difficult to discern much about the façade, apart from its grid of square windows with indented framing. The building appears to have a flat profile with no setbacks between street level and the parapet.

The development will contain parking for ten vehicles and ten bike storage spaces, with utilities and resident storage on the second floor. Apartments will begin on the third story, with full-floor units all the way up to the 11th floor. The penthouse will have a private roof deck, while the rest of the units will have access to a shared rooftop terrace. Amenities for 532 West 20th Street include a landscaped rear yard, a 24-hour concierge and doorman, and laundry rooms. The address is a short walk from the High Line, Hudson River Park and the waterfront, and Chelsea Piers.

Work was slated to be completed in the winter of 2019, as noted on the construction fence, but it seems like things may not fully finish until sometime later this year.
