The Pendry Hotel at 4 Manhattan West Makes Vertical Headway in Midtown West

The Pendry Hotel at 4 Manhattan West is rising fast in Midtown West. The 21-story development will offer 164 guest rooms and a selection of condominiums on the tower’s upper floors. Designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill and developed by Brookfield Properties, the building features a distinctive wavy façade on the northern and southern elevations, which is now visible in the reinforced concrete structure. The glass curtain wall will be installed later this year.

Recent photos from YIMBY user JC_Heights capture the state of the construction site. The tower will soon surpass the adjacent brick building to the east.

The structure should reach the halfway mark this summer.

The wavy façade can best be seen when looking at an angle.

The curvy edges of the floor plates wrap around the corners of every floor, creating a shape that will stand out from the neighboring structures. At the current pace of construction, the tower should pass the halfway mark this summer, and it is possible it could top out before the end of the year.

Future hotel guests will be treated to views of the retail plaza to the south and the rest of the Midtown skyline to the north. The nearest subways are the 7 train at Hudson Yards and the A, C, E, and Long Island Railroad at 34th Street-Penn Station. Both Penn Station and Hudson Yards are a very short walk from the site, giving tourists and visitors an easy means of accessing transportation, retail, dining, and landmarks.

Manhattan West is going to be an eight acre campus that will include two supertall commercial office skyscrapers at One and Two Manhattan West, the completed 62-story rental tower known as The Eugene, 240,000 square feet of restaurants, shops, and entertainment, and Five Manhattan West.

The Pendry Hotel should likely be finished next year.

  1. Again with the stupid setback UGHHHH!

    • I was wondering this too… What’s up with all these setbacks of late?

      • The city has zoning laws for light and air. The developers want the prestige of height. Thanks to the idiot concept of FAR, this is the stupid compromise.

Why hasn’t the owner of the brick building next door been arrested for not having a silver glass facade?
