The firm Gene Kaufman Architect is responsible for the design of 305 West 48th Street, a new 211-room hotel in Midtown’s Hell’s Kitchen. Located between Eighth and Ninth Avenue, the 27-story skyscraper rises along the fringe of tall skyscrapers between Times Square and the Hudson River, topping out at 303 feet. Glass is being installed on the southern elevation and the reinforced concrete walls will soon be covered in vibrant hues of red and yellow bricks. YIMBY last reported that Bright Management, Inc. is listed as the developer. The Rockwell Group is designing the interiors and amenities.

Photos from several streets and avenues away to the southwest show the entirety of the structure. The site for 305 West 48th Street places the skyscraper in a fairly isolated position to give occupants broader uninterrupted views looking south across the relatively flat landscape of Hell’s Kitchen.

The whole project will yield around 73,000 square feet, with 59,000 square feet going towards the hotel space. Amenities for the hotel will include a bar and lounge in the cellar, a ground-level rear garden, a second-floor terrace, and a 27th floor rooftop lounge. The closest subways include the C and E trains at the 50th Street subway station, the N, Q, and R trains at the 49th Street station, and the 1 train at the 50th Street – Broadway station. Being so close to various trains and the theater district means there is no shortage of dining, retail, and entertainment options for visitors and tourists from around the country and the world.

A completion date has not been announced, but sometime next year is very likely.

  1. Free view from you, by the hand to comment; but by the eyes to read your details. At this point I have to join you here as a hotel tops out, and bring it to me with beautiful structure in the future. Where I was looking and when you were reported about, it had been such a new progress posted. All the words for you to show up I catch it, work on way with development’s design. Also developer’s brainpower, it had to be this one going to meet its idea. (Thanks to Michael Young)

    • Please pardon me for stinking up the place: Free view for all to see beautiful eyes. Rendering as lovely from street below and high above. Hotel with rooms and beautiful view. Brain power to hotel design. Me like everything! ( You’re welcome ).

  4. That gnawing ache in your gut paired with dissonance of feeling like your in the twilight zone that is the daily existence under Trump is exactly the same feeling I get from this. It’s humiliating.
