Pace University’s Campus Expansion Opens at 15 Beekman Street in Financial District, Manhattan

Construction is complete on 15 Beekman Street, a 27-story campus expansion for Pace University in the Financial District. Designed by Manish Chadha of Ismael Leyva Architects and developed by SL Green Realty, the 338-foot-tall tower yields 213,084 square feet for classrooms, administrative and faculty offices, common spaces, suite-style dorm rooms, a dining facility, a library and learning center, and the three-floor Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems. New Line Structures & Development was the general contractor for the project, which is alternately addressed as 126-132 Nassau Street and located at the corner of Beekman and Nassau Streets.

Sutphin Senior Residence Breaks Ground at 97-04 Sutphin Boulevard in Jamaica, Queens

Local officials and developers recently celebrated the commencement of construction on Sutphin Senior Residence, a 15-story affordable housing property at 97-04 Sutphin Boulevard in Jamaica, Queens. Designed by Bernheimer Architecture and developed by affordable housing developer Breaking Ground, the building will yield 173 apartments reserved for low-income seniors, including 52 supportive housing units for formerly homeless older adults with serious mental illness or substance use disorder.

2226 Third Avenue Completes Construction in East Harlem, Manhattan

Construction is complete on 2226 Third Avenue, a ten-story mixed-use building in East Harlem, Manhattan. Designed by DXA Studio Architecture and developed by Real Estate Equities Corporation, the 145-foot-tall structure yields 193,000 square feet of laboratory and medical research space that will cater to biotech start-ups, as well as 36,547 square feet for commercial use and 97,759 square feet of community facility space. REEC 3rd Ave LLC is listed as the owner, GACE Consulting Engineers was the structural engineer, ICOR Consulting Engineers was the MEP engineer, and The Rinaldi Group was the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of Third Avenue and East 121st Street.

Urban League Empowerment Center Nears Completion at 121 West 125th Street in Harlem, Manhattan

Construction is nearing completion on the Urban League Empowerment Center, a 17-story mixed-use building at 121 West 125th Street in Harlem, Manhattan. Designed by Beyer Blinder Belle and developed by The Prusik Group, BRP Companies, L+M Development Partners, and Taconic Partners, the 414-000-square-foot structure will yield 170 affordable housing units, 70,000 square feet of Class A office space, and 110,000 square feet of retail area including a Target and a 28,000-square-foot Trader Joe’s on the ground floor. The development will serve as the home for the National Urban League and the Urban Civil Rights Experience Museum. Congress Builders is the general contractor for the property, which is located between West 126th Street to the north, 125th Street to the south, Malcolm X Boulevard to the east, and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard to the west.

303 Wythe Avenue Readies for Construction in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Designed by ND Architecture & Design PC, the new 55-foot-tall structure will span 22,874 square feet and yield 22 residential units with an average scope of 1,004 square feet, as well as 6,074 square feet of commercial space, 395 square feet of community facility space, and a cellar level. B Contractors Group LLC is the general contractor for the project, which is located at the corner of Wythe Avenue and South 2nd Street.

Located between East 164th Street and Weiher Court, the lot is near the Intervale Street subway station, serviced by the 2 and 5 trains. Permits Filed for 537 West 59th Street on Manhattan’s Upper West Side

Permits have been filed for a nine-story building to be used as a homeless shelter at 537 West 59th Street on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Located between Amsterdam and West End Avenues, the lot is near the 59th Street subway station, serviced by the A, B, C, D, and 1 trains. W59th Shelter HDFC is listed as the owner behind the applications of the 7,560-square-foot lot. Project Renewal, a non-profit that offers housing and services for the homeless, will operate the shelter.

59 Henry Street Stands Topped Out in Two Bridges, Manhattan

Construction is continuing to progress on 59 Henry Street, a 19-story mixed-use building in Two Bridges, Manhattan. Designed by S9 Architecture and developed by W & L Group, the 227-foot-tall structure topped out in the spring and will span nearly 98,000 square feet and yield 80 rental units with an average scope of 714 square feet, as well as 40,305 square feet of community facility space on the first five stories, 26 enclosed parking spaces, a penthouse, and a cellar level. Front Wave Construction is the general constructor for the project, which is located between Catherine and Market Streets.
