Landscaping work is continuing on Little Island, Thomas Heatherwick‘s 2.4-acre Hudson River park at Pier 55 in Chelsea. More trees and greenery have been delivered and planted across the undulating mass of reinforced concrete and steel. The project, which was conceived to resemble a leaf floating on water, is being managed by the Hudson River Park Trust (HRPT), with landscape design by MNLA.
Yesterday, the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) overheard proposals to construct a single-story rooftop expansion at 405 Vanderbilt Avenue in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. The two-story townhouse is owned by actress Carmen Ejogo, who has commissioned VonDalwig Architecture to design the addition.
Permits have been filed for a seven-story mixed-use building at 352 Meeker Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Located at the intersection of Frost Street and Meeker Avenue, the corner lot is also addressed as 340 Meeker Avenue. Six blocks north is the Graham Avenue subway station, serviced by the L train. Mordechai Ganzfried is listed as the owner behind the applications.
Last week Queens Community Board 2 voted to approve a 21-story mixed-use development at 42-11 9th Street in Long Island City. The commercial building with comprise 70,000 square feet of industrial space within the podium, 270,000 square feet of commercial office space, and 2,900 square feet of ground-level retail. A partnership between Titan Machine and RXR Realty is responsible for this project that will create over a thousand new jobs in the Long Island City’s Industrial Business Zone.
YIMBY recently took photographs of the ongoing installation at The XI of the warm-colored travertine façade. The project consists of a twisting pair of 36- and 26-story residential structures located at 76 Eleventh Avenue in Chelsea. Designed by Danish architect Bjarke Ingels of Bjarke Ingels Group and developed by HFZ Capital Group, the massive 908,250-square-foot complex stands along the Hudson River waterfront and sits on the western side of the High Line. The mixed-use property will yield 236 condominiums and a 137-room Six Senses Hotel Resort Spa, which will be the first location in the United States. Omnibuild is in charge of the construction and Douglas Elliman is handling sales and marketing.
