HPD Reveals Plans for New Afro-Latin Music and Arts Center and Nearly 600 Affordable Homes in East Harlem

The New York City Department of Housing Development and Preservation (HPD) has revealed two large-scale mixed-use properties in East Harlem that will create a new Afro-Latin Music and Arts (ALMA) Center and 600 affordable housing units. The ALMA Center will be operated by the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance and the housing units will serve low-income families and the formerly homeless.

Affordable Housing Lottery Launches for Balton Commons in Manhattan’s Harlem

The affordable housing lottery has launched for Balton Commons, a seven-story mixed-use building at 267 West 126th Street in Harlem, Manhattan. Designed by Aufgang Architects and developed by Lemor Development Group and Apex Building Group, the structure also yields a tech incubator space managed by non-profit Silicon Harlem, ground-floor commercial space, and community facility space. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 32 units for residents at 30 to 100 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $0 to $148,000.

Affordable Housing Lottery Launches for Riverton Square in East Harlem, Manhattan

The affordable housing lottery has launched for Riverton Square, five 13-story residential buildings at 45 East 135th Street and 2156, 2181, 2171, and 2225 Madison Avenue in East Harlem, Manhattan. Overall, the Riverton Square complex consists of 1,229 units across 12 buildings with approximately 1,000 units designated as affordable housing. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 55 units for residents at 60 to 125 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $43,852 to $161,125.
