Four-Story, Five-Unit Mixed-Use Building Planned at 41-16 Haight Street, Flushing

A Queens-based property owner has filed applications for a four-story, five-unit mixed-use building at 41-16 Haight Street, in downtown Flushing. The project, measuring 7,180 square feet, will feature 1,780 square feet across the ground and cellar levels for a children’s daycare center, followed by five residential units on the second through fourth floors. The apartments should average 724 square feet apiece, indicative of rental units. Robert H. Lin’s Flushing-based A&T Engineering is the applicant of record. The 20-foot-wide, 2,000-square-foot lot is occupied by a two-story house. Demolition permits were filed in November.




143-35 Sanford Avenue

Nine-Story, 38-Unit Mixed-Use Building Filed At 143-35 Sanford Avenue, Flushing

An anonymous Flushing-based LLC has filed applications for a nine-story, 38-unit mixed-use building at 143-35 Sanford Avenue, on the eastern side of downtown Flushing. The project will measure 43,604 square feet and rise just 80 feet above street level. There will be 4,868 square feet of medical offices on the ground floor. The residential units on the floors above should average 736 square feet. It’s not clear if the apartments will be condominiums or rentals. Amenities include a 30-car parking garage, located mostly underground, and bike storage. Michael Kang’s Flushing-based architecture firm is the architect of record. The 7,000-square-foot site is currently occupied by a three-story building with residential units and a dentists’ office. Demolition permits haven’t been filed.


36-18 Main Street

12-Story Hotel-Medical-Retail Complex Now Under Construction at 36-18 Main Street, Flushing

Foundation work is now underway on the site of a long-stalled-out hotel development at 36-18 Main Street, in Downtown Flushing. YIMBY can bring you news of the construction thanks to a photo posted to the YIMBY Forums by JC_Heights. Building permits for the project, which date back to 2004, detail plans for a two-tower, 12-story multi-use commercial complex that encompasses 290,195 square feet. Commercial-retail space will be located on the ground through forth floors in a common podium. One of the towers will contain a 148-key Hotel Indigo on the fifth through 11th floors. The other tower will feature medical offices on the fifth through 11th floors. The complex will also feature restaurants on the third and 12th floors. It will be served by a 345-car underground garage and have storage for 31 bikes. JWC Architect Engineer is the architect of record, while CMA Landmark Associates is developing. Completion is expected in 2018, per a Queens Courier update from 2014.
