Developer Begins Demolition At Fifth Avenue-West 46th Street Assemblage, Midtown

Gary Barnett’s Extell Development is moving forward with an unknown project on the corner of Fifth Avenue and West 46th Street, in Midtown’s Diamond District. Curbed NY reports the developer recently filed demolition permits for six five-story commercial buildings spanning 3-13 West 46th Street. The row of buildings are currently masked with black netting, which means demolition should begin soon.

Foundations Are Excavated For Retail Project At 719 Seventh Avenue, Times Square

As SL Green is developing Midtown’s largest commercial property at One Vanderbilt across the street from Grand Central Terminal, the company is also building the neighborhood’s smallest ground-up project at 719 Seventh Avenue, just one block north of Times Square’s northern terminus. Despite its diminutive four-story size, the retail building will assert itself via a 150-foot-tall, 5,000-square-foot array of digital billboards. On-site demolition is complete, and excavation is well underway. Pavarini McGovern LLC is listed as the construction manager.

New Renderings Show Fresh Views of One Vanderbilt

SL Green’s planned tower next to Grand Central is making significant headway, and demolition for the site’s former buildings is already ongoing. And while we had previously revealed several prospective views of the 1,500-foot supertall, which was approved by the City Council this past May, a tipster has sent along a few more renderings, giving a more comprehensive overview of the tower within the context of its Midtown surrounds.
