The Long Island Railroad’s Willis Avenue station in Mineola is now open following substantial upgrades to improve vehicular traffic flow and eliminate street-level train crossings. The upgrades include a roadway that passes underneath two new railroad bridges.
Governor Andrew Cuomo this week unveiled a multi-billion dollar initiative to revitalize and rebuild infrastructure across New York State. Entitled “Reimagine | Rebuild | Renew,” the 2021 agenda is touted as the largest state infrastructure plan in the country and sets in motion the improvement of state roadways, public transportation, airports, and large swaths of Midtown, Manhattan.
Queens Plaza Park, aka Sven, is the 25th building on our annual countdown of the tallest projects underway in New York. Construction has passed the halfway point on the 755-foot-tall residential skyscraper, which is located at 27-29 Queens Plaza North in Long Island City. Meanwhile, the curved reflective glass curtain wall is rapidly ascending the 67-story reinforced concrete superstructure. Handel Architects is the designer and The Durst Organization is the developer of the project, which is also addressed as 29-37 41st Avenue. Selldorf Architects is the interior designer.
In a recent ceremony, Triangle Equities celebrated the launch of sales at a luxury townhouse development known as Kensington Estates. Located in Woodbury, Long Island, the new community is exclusively available to adults 55-and-over and is expected to debut in 2020.
Back in 2015, plans were approved to begin construction on a number of high-end residential developments in the Downtown center of Mineola, Long Island in an effort to bolster and revitalize the growing community. That initiative includes construction of Mineola Village Green at 199 Second Avenue, a 266-unit residential project designed by local architects Stephen B. Jacobs Group for Lalezarian Properties.
